For many LGBTQ+ people keeping their true selves hidden from colleagues was the only safe option. It’s only since 2000 that have they have been able to be open while serving in the military. Today, while prejudice is still rife in many places, some companies and organisations have embraced their LGBTQ+ members of staff. Studies show, that employers who recognise and support diversity are on average more productive and more profitable.
